Must Have Items For Your Makeup Bag

I have recently started doing a lot of makeup lessons and luxury shopping trips. In those lessons, I have asked my clients to bring along their makeup bag for me to assess. During the lessons, I have discovered some basic items that some people are lacking to give them my much loved ‘fresh faced’ look. If you know me or have met me, you will know that I am a lover of the natural look rather than eyebrows drawn with a sharpie!

So here is a little blog on what I have in my every day kit.

Concealer – an absolute must for every single person on the planet! Even my models will agree that they have dark circles or blemishes from time to time. Everyone gets them. There are so many to chose from so pick your favourite. I decided a few weeks back to try a Collection 2000 concealer stick and oddly enough, I love it. There are of course way better ones on the market but for £1.99 its worth a try.

Foundation, BB Cream, CC Cream, Tinted Moisturiser – You don’t need to plaster your face in makeup but sometimes you will need a little coverage. The items listed start from medium heavy to barely there. Apply with your fingers and blend from the centre outwards for low maintenance application.

Powder – Again, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Just a basic translucent powder will do the job. Bobbi Brown do nice products to match your skin tone. Like always I can recommend a cheaper version; try Rimmel or Maybelline.

Eyebrow pencil or soft eyeshadow – Please don’t draw your eyebrows on with what resembles a marker pen on a cartoon character! Just aim for your natural hairs and apply with soft strokes.

Blush or Bronzer – If you are using a bronzer, only go for 2 shades darker than your skin tone. For a blush, apply a colour that is similar to when your cheeks get rosy. I will be doing a tutorial a little later on how to apply these properly.

Mascara – Because every single girl in the world needs to wear it!

Lipstick, lipgloss, lip tint, lip balm – I am a massive lover of bright lip colours so I always have dozens in my handbag, I think just adding a bit of colour brightens my day. Give them a try and see what you think

Eye shadows and Eyeliner – I don’t wear these every day but they are nice to have in your bag for when you’d like to make a special effort. If you’re new to the game, try soft browns, coppers or nude shadows and a charcoal eyeliner.
