My third trip away this year as a destination wedding makeup artist was to Champagnole in France. I know I keep saying this, but I really can’t get over how lucky I am that I get asked to do any wedding, but even more so, when someone wants to fly me out to another country to help them get ready.
Shannon contacted me about flying over to be her destination wedding hair and makeup artist back last year. With perfect timing, I was in France two days before, at this wedding. So, for me, it was an easy commute.
Shannon and I had a few discussions via email about what style she would like for her hair and makeup and it was decided that I would fly to her a day early. This way, we could have a bit of a trial, ahead of her wedding rehearsal.
For the wedding rehearsal, we wanted something a little different for Shannon’s hairstyle. We opted for a textured ponytail and kept the makeup similar to how we wanted it on the day.
The wedding was in the stunning Chateau de Syam, about an hour North West of Geneva. With 8 people to get ready for a 4pm wedding, my day started bright and early at 7am. The views from the venue made the early start worth it.
For the wedding, Shannon and I decided on a half-up hairstyle as the sun had come out. The day before was pretty severe rain and so the ponytail was the best option.
All of the bridesmaids opted for either half up or all up. Shannon gave them free rein so they could pick whichever style they wanted. Everyone asked for my favourite, natural but glowy makeup style. This is and always will be my favourite style because it is you, at your best. The way it should be.
i loved being part of Shannon’s wedding and I feel so grateful that I get to be a destination wedding hair and makeup artist.
