I’m lazy. I’m a girl. And I like to pretend I’m chic.
I work in France quite a lot, so I’m going to lean into the illusion that I’m some effortlessly cool French woman – when really, I’m probably sitting here eating cake and drinking a cup of tea.
But I digress. What I really want to talk about is my style – my signature approach as a Bristol wedding hair and makeup artist. Over the last 15 years, I’ve honed what feels authentically me, and more importantly, what doesn’t.
Finding My Own Makeup Style
When I first started out as a makeup artist and hairstylist, I tried to fit into what I thought “wedding makeup” should be.
Think: big hair, big lashes, and lots (and lots) of heavy makeup. Basically, full-on Miss Congeniality glam.
Spoiler: that’s not me.
I’m a self-confessed lazy human – I don’t have time for that level of maintenance, and honestly, I don’t think most brides do either.
Over time, I’ve realised that makeup should enhance, not mask. I love makeup, but I don’t believe anyone looks better with it or better without it. It’s about helping you feel like yourself – confident, comfortable, and glowing.
Yes, I’ll cover a blemish if you’d like, but I’ll never hide what makes you you. There’s no such thing as an imperfection. And I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.
My Signature Style – “Amped-Up You”
My bridal makeup style is what I like to call an amped-up version of you.
You’ll look fresh-faced, with a healthy glow (not sweaty!), and bright and alive – even if you don’t feel it pre-coffee.
I use light coverage foundations and products that let your skin breathe. No cakey finishes, no heavy contouring, just naturally beautiful skin that still looks like skin.
Maybe this comes from my childhood trauma with DreamMatte Mousse and people telling me to “cover my freckles” (spoiler: I didn’t). Now, I embrace soft bronzes, flushed cheeks, and a hint of natural contour for gentle definition.
Why I Don’t Do Heavy Contouring
Let’s talk contouring.
I don’t do it. I used to be a makeup artist in Los Angeles, and I’ve seen more sculpted faces than I can count – including Kim K herself. It looks fine on camera, but up close? Not so much.
Instead, I focus on skin that glows naturally, eyes that softly stand out, and lips with just the right amount of je ne sais quoi.
My “Lazy Girl Chic” Philosophy
My approach to bridal hair and makeup in Bristol is all about effortless beauty. You’ll still look like yourself, just a little more elevated – as if you woke up perfectly refreshed after eight hours of sleep and a glass of champagne.
That’s what I call lazy girl chic.
Evie x
