Wedding Hair and Makeup at Priston Mill | Bristol Bridal Hair and Makeup Artist

Wedding Hair and Makeup at Priston Mill

Priston Mill will always have a special place in my heart – it was actually the very first venue I ever worked at as a wedding hair and makeup artist over 15 years ago.

Even though I’ve only been back a handful of times since, it remains one of my favourite wedding venues near Bath. It’s such a timeless, romantic location, and I’ve had countless brides over the years choose Priston Mill for their special day.

While the venue has a lovely getting-ready space, many brides prefer to start their morning in a nearby Airbnb or hotel – which is exactly what my gorgeous 2024 bride, May, decided to do.

Meeting May

When May first got in touch with me in early 2024, she told me she’d found me online and, in her words, “loved my work.” Honestly, there’s no better compliment you can give a bridal hair and makeup artist!

May’s vision was simple but stunning. She wanted a natural bridal makeup look, but slightly more elevated. Something that looked like her, but with that soft, glowing bridal finish I love creating.

For her hair, she wasn’t 100% sure at first. She was torn between wearing it half-up or down in soft waves, so we planned to experiment a little during her trial.

The Bridal Hair and Makeup Trial

May came to my studio in Bristol for her bridal hair and makeup trial in February 2024, along with one of her bridesmaids. Because I know Priston Mill quite well, I was able to guide her on what styles and tones would complement both her complexion and the romantic setting of the venue.

Together, we designed a relaxed yet polished bridal look that felt effortless and timeless. The perfect match for a summer wedding at Priston Mill.

The Wedding Morning

Fast forward to July 2024, May’s wedding morning! We all got ready at a light-filled Airbnb on Park Street in central Bristol, which was perfect for doing makeup (good light is everything!).

We made the most of the warm weather and created a soft, glowing base using some of my favourite skin-enhancing products. For her eyes, we chose champagne tones that made her green eyes sparkle, paired with individual lashes for a natural lift.

I’ve been obsessed with blush lately, so we added a fresh rose cream blush across her cheeks and the bridge of her nose for that radiant, sun-kissed look.

The Bridal Hair

May decided not to wear a veil, and I absolutely loved that choice. It allowed her hair to really shine. We styled her dark brown hair into soft, romantic waves, pulling back the front sections into a relaxed twist. To finish, we added delicate fresh flowers through the back for that extra touch of natural beauty.

The result was a bridal hairstyle that looked effortless and elegant – secure enough to last all day, but never over-styled.

The Morning Vibes

May spent the morning getting ready with her five bridesmaids and her lovely mum, and the atmosphere was pure joy. There was laughter, excitement, and that perfect blend of calm and chaos that makes wedding mornings so special.

By the time I packed up my kit, I felt like I’d made seven new friends. It was such a privilege to be part of May’s day. A truly beautiful wedding at one of my favourite venues, Priston Mill.

If you are thinking of hiring a bridal hair and makeup artist for your wedding at Priston Mill, I would love to hear from you.
