Lara’s wedding day in Bristol was effortlessly stylish from start to finish. She chose to get ready at the beautiful Artist Residence in the heart of the city before heading to her ceremony at The Mount Without – one of Bristol’s most atmospheric and unique wedding venues.
Being based in Bristol city centre myself, this wedding felt especially local, with the getting-ready location less than a three-minute walk from my home (it’s actually my local pub – happy hour is 3-5pm if you’re interested). It’s always lovely working so close to home and supporting Bristol weddings in the city centre.
Getting Ready at Artist Residence Bristol
The morning began at Artist Residence, a boutique hotel known for its creative interiors and relaxed, intimate feel – perfect for a calm wedding morning. Lara and her bridal party had a lovely, unhurried start to the day while I provided bridal hair and makeup for Lara, plus three of her bridal party.
City-centre preparation locations like this are ideal for on-location wedding hair and makeup, as everything is close by and the atmosphere stays relaxed. I love to make sure we have enough time that we aren’t rushing, so imagine my actual glee when Lara asked if it was OK if they put on Clueless whilst I worked – side bar, this is my favourite movie!
Lara’s Bridal Hair and Makeup Look
Lara wanted an elegant, timeless look that would suit the dramatic setting of her ceremony in the crypt at The Mount Without.
We created a refined bridal style that balanced softness with structure:
- Glowing, natural-finish skin with subtle contouring
- Softly defined eyes for depth without heaviness
- Classic lashes to enhance her eyes in photographs
- A romantic lip tone to complement her dress and flowers
Her bridal hairstyle was equally elegant – polished but still soft enough to feel modern and effortless. The finished look felt perfectly suited to both the historic venue and Lara’s personal style.
A Unique Ceremony at The Mount Without
The Mount Without is one of Bristol’s most striking wedding venues, and Lara’s ceremony in the crypt created an incredible atmosphere. The historic stone interiors paired beautifully with her timeless bridal look, proving how well elegant bridal hair and makeup works in dramatic heritage settings.
Weddings here often call for makeup that photographs beautifully in lower light, and Lara’s glowing, balanced look held perfectly throughout the ceremony and celebrations.
