Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to Harvey Nichols to view their new autumn/winter collection and check out the new seasons trends. Armed with my very lovely photographer Lucy, we were greeted with a cocktail and a free goody bag. Win!
Apart from the cocktails, there were so many gorgeous outfits and perfumes to keep all of my senses busy.
I picked up a couple of tips from stylist Gabby from Voila Styling and the girls from Shu Uemura cosmetics:
Peach lipsticks are a big deal this season. Every outfit was worn with coral lips and nude eyes and it looked fantastic. If you have a paler skin tone, then it is best to go for a pink based coral or peach, if you have a more olive skin tone, then orange based colours will look great.
Grey eyeshadows were seen on all of the models. It was great to have such a neutral shade looking so versatile as it matched every outfit the girls were wearing. For an evening look, try a smoky eye on the heavier side, mixed with silvers and blacks and for the daytime, just place a little grey eyeshadow on the outer crease of your lid for a soft but defined look.
Rich coffee tones are the colours to wear this season. It’s easy to opt for black outfits in the wintery months but almonds, chocolate, ivory and coffee colours are all so flattering for every body shape. Try a nice almond coloured coat with an ivory scarf to keep snug and on trend.
If you are going to wear black this season, break it up with a nice pop of colour, like an orange bag or pink gloves. Don’t be afraid to mix and match colour to find what really suits you.
A staple to any wardrobe this year is a jumper dress. They are warm, figure fitting and can be worn alone, with jeans or leggings. These are great for wearing to the office, team with a pair of cute heels and a coral lipstick and you are good to go!
