I’ve spent the last few years learning French and Spanish. I’m pretty good at them. OK, that’s a lie, but I’m not bad. Over the last 12 months I have been booked as a destination wedding hair and makeup artist lot in Italy. I’m not complaining, but it’s made me realise that I probably chose the wrong languages. Though, if you want to know how to say ‘I’m vegan’, ‘no cheese’ or ‘I would like a red wine, please’ then I’m your girl.
Nevertheless, last month I was flown out to Italy to be the destination wedding hair and makeup artist for not one, but two weddings. (I know!)
First up was one of my closest friends and his now wife (also a good friend) Paolo and Anya.
I’m always so happy when friends ask me to do their makeup. It shows that they actually believe I can do the job and that I’m good at it (that or…mates rates!)
For Anya’s hair and makeup, we wanted something bridal but with an added vibe which suited both Anya and Paolo. For reference, they both have green hair, Anya loves unicorns and mermaids and they both love glitter. So, I knew it wasn’t going to be a totally straight forward bridal look. However, Anya suprised me by keeping things ever so slightly more simplistic. I wanted to add mermaid waves into Anya’s hair to keep a little bit of her still there and we created some twists at the back so we could secure a hair vine. For makeup, we opted to keep the lock fairly natural with a pop of glitter on her eyes to respresent the mermaid vibes again.
Let’s not forget that I was a guest at this wedding and so for myself, I copied the mermaid waves and added some glitter onto my temples. Easy!
