Cruelty-free And Vegan-friendly Foundation

Christmas is here (almost). If Christmas were here, I hopefully wouldn’t still be writing this blog at my dining table. I’ll be drinking mulled wine and stuffing my face with (vegan) cheese. As Christmas parties are happening, you might think about getting your hair and makeup done or doing it yourself. As we approach 2024, it’s a good time to reflect, become more conscious of our products, and lean more towards vegan-friendly and cruelty-free makeup products. Below is a list of my current favourite cruelty-free and vegan-friendly makeup products.

Vegan and cruelty-free foundation

Full coverage.

I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of full-coverage foundations. But this is mainly from a psychological point of view. Over the years, I’ve heard so many clients tell me they need full coverage foundation for their ‘terrible skin’ and I can tell you that over the 13 years of being a makeup artist, I’ve not seen one person with actual ‘terrible skin’. I’ve seen people with scarring or localised blemishes on their chin or cheeks, but never have I seen anyone who needs full coverage over their entire skin. That being said, if you are completely wedded to the idea of having a full coverage foundation, these are some of my favourites:

Medium Coverage Foundation

Medium coverage foundations are great. They are usually very buildable should you need full coverage in any area and can also be used thinly for lighter coverage.

Light Coverage Foundation

These are usually my go-to foundations. I tend to only wear foundations on special occasions and even then, I don’t put much on. On a day-to-day, if I am going to work, I tend to just use a little bit of this along with some concealer. For a bit more coverage, these are my favourites.
